Some Really Great News!

In our last post, we mentioned that Streetside is the recipient of a grant from the U.S. Department of Education's wonderful Arts in Education program. We're also partnering with the world class KIPP Schools on another DOE-funded project, which helps teachers make digital storytelling a part of the school day.

Just recently, we found out that the DOE is supporting Streetside's work again! With their support, Streetside will be giving students who speak English as a second language arts education programs that aim to improve their language skills. Over the years, we've noticed that programs like The Storytelling Exchange motivate young English learners like crazy. There's someting about telling your own story that makes people want to speak out.

Now, with the help of WestEd, we'll get a chance to do research to find out how our programs help those students. And the project will last for four years, giving us a chance to make a big impact.
